Queen Latifah Hits a High Note for Charity

(ARA) - Emphasis on beauty -- both inner and outer -- will radiate more brightly than ever with the launch of CG Vibes: Music That Gives Back. The first-ever cosmetic record label features talented new and established artists on one CD while also providing entry forms to award a total of $50,000 to women who work to make the world more beautiful for others.
"The CG Vibes program is all about music that gives back. It's about artists coming together to support volunteering through music," says spokesperson Queen Latifah. "I know how music can have a positive influence on people and this is why I am such a believer and supporter of CG Vibes. The program also shows women that beauty is both inside and out, something CoverGirl is committed to and has always supported."
Listen Up, Volunteers
Next May, the CG Vibes Fund will grant $10,000 each to five individuals who are actively involved in public service efforts. Award winners will be selected by the CG Advisory Board, which includes Queen Latifah, Kevin Eubanks, Tamyra Gray (star of "American Idol"), Toby Lightman, Cherie, Kathy Brier (daytime soap star and lead in Hairspray), Paula Shugart (president of the Miss Universe Organization), Jack Rotherham (Teen People), Anne Martin (P&G), Cheryl Hudgins (P&G), Charlotte Otto (P&G), Paul Yocum (P&G), Camille Hackney (Atlantic) and others.
The three categories are:
CG Vibes Award -- Awarded to one woman who has given back to her community through music.
Biggest Challenge -- Awarded to two women (one teen and one adult) who saw a need in their communities and determined a change had to be made.
Biggest Accomplishment -- Awarded to two women (one teen and one adult) who have made a huge impact within an existing organization.
